Karen earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh in communications with a minor in psychology. She holds a Preschool/Kindergarten Teacher’s Certificate from the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Schools.
Founded in 1954, Beverly Heights Christian Preschool has served thousands of children and their families during its 65-year existence. Karen’s involvement with the preschool began 21 years ago, in 1998, when her son Joshua enrolled, followed by daughter Jessica.
As her children grew, Karen’s relationship with the preschool deepened. She served on the preschool board as president, then was hired as a teacher in the program. She has taught most of the classes the preschool offers: the Parent 2’s, 3-Year-Old, Older 4’s and Kindergarten/Enrichment.
She assumed the position of director in 2011. In this capacity, she supervises a staff of 11 teachers who serve about 100 children and their families.
The distinctively Christian environment Karen oversees is age-appropriate and fully prepares children for entrance into Kindergarten. It is an integrated Christian thematic curriculum which places special emphasis on God’s love. Children learn through play and loving guidance from a dedicated team of teachers who love the Lord.
Karen enjoys spending spare time with her husband Reed and their two adult children. She loves to bike, read and bake (especially cookies!). Her family has been calling Beverly Heights Church home since 1995.
