Brief Histories
It was at a Beverly Heights Mission celebration that Reimer and Karin became interested in Operation Mobilization (see also Randy Jury and his family in this booklet.) After returning to Germany they contacted the Headquarters of OM Germany and were invited to get a hands-on experience of the activities of OM, especially the annual week-long “TEENSTREET” conference for Christian teenagers and the ships’ ministry. They were able to visit LOGOS II while in the port of Kingston, Jamaica.
For a number of years, Reimer and Karin have served as volunteer mission ambassadors for OM, promoting the biblical call for missions in general and the objectives of OM in particular. They visit groups and congregations giving talks, seminars, and Bible studies with special emphasis on the relationship between faith and science. Every year they participate in the service team of TEENSTREET in various capacities, including having discussions with and counseling the young people. This is extremely important because Christian youth represent only a small fraction of the teens in European societies, and often feel isolated – like the “church scattered”, and need a place where they can experience the “church gathered”. In 2008 the attendance was about 2600 + 1000 people on the service team. The idea of TEENSTREET is spreading around the world. Successful starts have been made in India, Malaysia, Uruguay, and soon there will be more. Beverly Heights is considered to be the “sending church” of Karin and Reimer.
