Brief Histories
Dave and Fran Jordan
In 1979 Dave and Fran began working among the Prai people, an animistic mountain people in northern Thailand who had no written language and no contact with Christianity. There are about 30,000 Prai in Thailand and an undetermined number across the border in Laos.
Presently there are Christians in three villages: Jordan’s village, which we call Midville, Knife Creek, a half hour drive away, and Gem Forest, more that an hour drive up into the mountains. Some outreach to Boot Creek, a more distant mountain village, is taking place as well.
Dave’s main responsibility is finishing the New Testament translation. He also does Bible teaching and is writing a Bible curriculum for the Prai church .
Fran has been developing the literacy materials, and also teaches women and children.
Dee and Shy Pawpa
Dee and Shy are a Prai couple who have been teaching the Bible in Gem Forest as well as other places for the past six years. They have a tremendous heart to see the Prai come to know Christ and grow to maturity. Their home is in our village, Midville, but they travel up to Gem Forest and stay there whenever possible. Their children Nok 15, Noi 13, and Den 11 all help in Gem Forest, teaching the children there.
Kaleb and Sa Jordan
Kaleb has experience as a specialty coffee roaster, and over the past few years has been testing growing specialty coffee as a means of support for Prai farmers who are losing a portion of their traditional farm land. His new wife Sa has experience training others to raise goats, and they hope this can also benefit the Prai people.
They both look forward to being involved in seeing the Prai church grow and mature and reach out to the many yet unreached villages in both Thailand and Laos. Besides their development interests they would like to be involved in discipling, preparing teaching material, and, if necessary, translation work.
